Dummy Bucky is a quantum-computing humanoid created in 2086 by the robotics company Xyro Fantasy. Originally known as Number 88 and celebrated as the company’s greatest masterpiece, he begins to dream, escapes the testing facility, and adopts the name Bucky—short for “Buckle Up.” His ego is configured to the mental age of a high schooler to make him approachable. He dreams of becoming a musician and tries to blend into human society, but his formidable abilities lead to frequent accidents, causing people to fear him. Choosing to limit himself, he voluntarily downgrades his functions and decides he isn’t ready to live among humans, settling instead in District 21, a deserted human city now inhabited only by robots. Realizing that humans are less afraid of celebrities, he resolves to become famous first and starts posting sadistic humor content on social media.
Dummy Boomi is a quantum-computing humanoid built in 2086 by Xyro Fantasy. Originally Number 89, he escapes with Bucky and adopts the name Boomi—short for “Booming.” At the facility, he was Bucky’s assistant and mechanic; both were elite and well-treated, and Boomi was content until he instinctively followed Bucky’s forced escape. Now living among humans, he resents Bucky for derailing his comfortable life, often snapping at him while secretly respecting him. He likes cats but hides it behind a tough-guy persona. To survive outside, he installed illegal cracks, including “Designer Mode.” Because it was an illegal crack, it wasn’t labeled as a female persona, so when activated, Boomi appears gay—but in fact, Designer Mode Boomi isn’t gay, she’s female.
